Waiting & Faithful

As I am not home yet, and won’t be waiting long enough to do a whole post, I am waiting to complete this but posting to let people know that I am trying to stay faithful as much as possible. What will be funny is if I go to read today’s Scripture, and out turns out to be related to the title. We shall see. In the meantime, thanks for waiting with me. πŸ™‚

So, I’m home, but as it’s not quite expedient for me to use my laptop tonight, I’m sticking with the phablet (phone/tablet hybrid), meaning I’ll try to keep it short.

The reading is from Genesis 37:12 through Genesis 37:22. It tells of Joseph’s journey to help Hoff brothers tend sheep and finding them instead in the city. They talked amongst themselves about how they could kill “the dreamer” and make it look like he fell down a cistern. I’m guessing they knew he would tattle on them in addition to their general jealousy.

While they were plotting, Reuben suggested other ways to deal with him that would not have them shed blood. He told them to just put him in the cistern where he couldn’t escape. Reuben was actually planning to come back and get him later.

And that’s where today’s reading ends. But I can tie it to waiting & being faithful since the jealousy & troubles that Joseph was facing were all a part of how God planned to use him to save His people. Right at that point, it might have seemed God was choosing not to intervene, but we know He is faithful and already had plans to turn ask their evil plans to good. Thankfully, that faithful plan began with a brother who had a loving heart and a desire to protect Joseph.

If you ever find yourself helping, and it doesn’t appear that your deeds are bearing fruit, consider this story and trust that God is working behind the scenes even when it seems He is waiting because you don’t see Him.
